8:30 AM Albuquerque Shooting Range park. Come have fun knocking down some critters. The range is great, the weather will be great, the targets are great…heck, I’M GREAT! Come put me in my place!

Saturday September 23rd shoot: Big-little-littlest

I know the pigs are hard to see. I am dropping the pig count from 3 to 1, just one lone pig as the last target on the End of the rail. A tie breaker…a challenge …something for shooters who tumble the 9 critters before it. I will try some HIGH CONTRAST paint jobs on the pig to help.

On the 385 meter rail there will be 5 Rams (Big) then 4 turkeys (little) and lastly ONE pig (littlest).
Shooters with an unmodified military issue rifle (iron sight / scope rifles are scored as separate classes) will engage large to smallest targets in order. There are 10 targets. You will have 20 rounds for score and three rounds for sighters if desired. Bring EXACTLY 20 or 23 rounds to the firing line.
Scoring is easy. How many critters fell?…How many rounds fired?

I will clear out my car so I can haul 4 target setters between relays. If you want to have all the fun of a knockdown match? You gotta do some of the work.

I will put this glitter helmet image on the pig, who can hit the girly man pig? Give it your best!

Chris

Winning Iron sight class was a M38 Swede 6.5x55. Ten targets were dropped with 11 rounds…one miss on a Big Ram!

Winning scope class was a HK 91 but it took 18 rounds to drop the ten targets.

Who says a rifleman needs a scope to be a “Sniper”?

I'm going to have to try and remember this. I'm not afraid of going to a shoot. Went to every Falfest, 650 miles. Been to Stimpy's shoot 750 miles 4-5 times. When to 3-4 of Moses' shoots and that was1100 miles.

How many people show up?

Depends on how much “fun” we design into the shoot and wind and weather…8-15 shooters a good average.

Yes, we have a Match every fourth Saturday..we practice every Saturday..

this month’s match.

We will shoot 20 rounds at 300 meters at both pig and Pumpkin painted target.
We will set up 5 pigs painted (2) black, (2) orange and (1) half black and half orange and have the regular steel target with a pumpkin painted on it, the scoring will be 3 points for each pig target you knock off the rail and 1 point for each hit anywhere on the square steel target. It will be up to the shooter of what he wants to shoot at be it pigs or square target, so the maximum score you can get is 30 points if you down all pigs and hit the steel target with all 20 rounds.
We can set up two banks so we can have two shoot before we have to go down range to reset and paint targets.

N Mexico isn’t all desert 🏜

Is it like silhouette shooting where you shoot offhand?
No we shoot prone with a front rest (no rear bag) or from a bench with front rest. I shoot from the bench as Spinal Stenosis makes my neck hurt like the dickens if I try to shoot prone. We have done a few offhand matches but those are infrequent.
