Thus far, 12 ga has been plentiful and normal prices the last few months, and this time of year the only "competition" I am shooting is sporting clays when weather permits. I am down to my last flat or two of 12 ga and hope that is still a true statement on "plentiful and normal prices". Something I need to look into this week I suppose.
Gleaned this from another forum I frequent: Interesting difference in just a few miles

I've visited 3 different Walmarts in central Kentucky the last two weeks and the only thing on the self was at one store about 15 boxes of 20 ga AA and a couple of boxes of 16 ga game loads. There were just a few guns in the case but otherwise pretty bare.

Stopped at Sportsman's Warehouse today and again bare shelfs with signs limiting purchase to 2 boxes or 1 100 round bulk pack. They did have a few turkey load shells, but other that than some unusual rifle cartridges ( 220 swift) nothing else.

I don't think there is an ammo shortage. The yabos two blocks either side of my neighbor run through a couple of clip every other night. I am just trying to find their gun store.

I've seen my local match only have half as many people show up but square ranges have never been more full of new shooters

Just out of curiosity I rolled down the ammo aisle at the mart-mart a couple of days ago. Just a few boxes of 28 gauge shells on the shelf. Don’t think I have ever noticed 28 gauge at Walmart before.

I used to run an easy 500 rounds of 9mm through my pistol every single week.

I’ve completely knocked that off. Same with iron sights on my C1. I’ve pretty much quit that as well. But I will run a couple dozen through my long range rifle as I try to work up the best formula for it.

The 7.62x39 and 7.62x54R was plentiful at the local gun shops here until this last week. Now can't even find that except a handful of paper wrapped bundles of milsurp on the shelf. All the .22 LR disappeared the week before. Now just some boxes of the hunting calibers. Still seeing people lining up to buy firearms but without any ammo that's going to be a problem. Still see some .32, .454, .500 S&W and .50 available though.

Some shops will keep ammo back for range use and to make a gun sale.

Maybe a special award is required for guys that only carry the minimum round count as their loadout? That’d be fun!

I carried 2X for Pawnee this past weekend & used nearly all of it, sadly most excess was wasted unfired clearing FTFs due to that glorious Super Glue baby shit clay mud mixed with 60 grit blast media y’all got down on that ranch. It was the worst best time I’ve had this year!

So no ammo is why I didn't see you this weekend. Jimmy claimed you weren't there for a totally different reason.
I'm trying to be more "reasonable" and only attend 4 RNGs/yr now. And with so many to choose from now, I just can't get to as many as I'd like to!

And Jimmy scares me. Have you met him?!?!

Well, I hope to see you in Pecos this September.

I did more than meet him. He's having my child in about nine months.
