That 'thumbs up' from Kotengu is cheering you all along for attending... not for asking for an email list from the already volunteered-to-death Match Director.

:devilish:

OK-- two of us from Gwinnett missed it the last two years. Really wish you guys would set up an email list, for those of us who don't check in here regularly. It's on our calendar now though.
It's usually posted on the RBGC website in the calendar section. Just check it every couple months, it's almost always posted a few months ahead of time. Plus lots of other good open to the public matches.

Do both of you have a zero on your weapons? Have something to carry 4 or 5 mags on your body? Can you change a mag in less than 15 seconds? Does your brass eject 6 to 8 feet after the gun gets hot? If you can answer "Yes" to all of those you are in great shape for the festivities.

This has become, thanks to the efforts of the match director, more than a rifle match. But first, it is indeed that.

It is also a gathering of people I'm proud to know, and grateful to spend time with. I hope it can become that for you.

I'm the old skinny guy probably replacing the bolts on the steel plates. Find me and say "Hi".

We've shot it three times... I happen to be wearing the 2015 shirt right this minute... but we keep missing it as it jumps around in date. "Four or five mags"? That would sure be nice. I used 7 I think.

Is there a signup link available?

As opposed to the fat, old guy messing with your first mag.

Don't recall a sign up sheet for the last couple of matches on line. If you show up, you can shoot has been the rule for a long time. Once Stimpy gets around to it, AFTER the upcoming (next month) Run and Gun he is hosting, he will get all that info out to the masses including cost, round count, etc.

Signup will probably happen in a couple of months. Notice will be given on this thread. Done too early and a lot of people find out they have conflicts in their schedule.

The schedule moves around to accommodate range availability at RBGC. Stimpy is hosting a lot of non-members to the club and I have no doubt that affects priority with their range usage.

With the ammo situation this year I wouldn't be surprised to see slower times and more hits per shot. Or they might just have a fit and try to burn the berm down. Hard to tell with this bunch.

If he's got that screwy V-Tac board up again (pretty sure, he likes how it screws with the shooters) it really helps if you know what happens when you rotate the rifle 90 degrees and aim at something. Higher mounted optics make this more worse.

Oh and how he does like to screw with shooters and not only the V-Tac board.

Well, he does put this warning in all of his match descriptions - a test of the shooter, his skills, equipment, rifle and ammo. the last was added a few years ago when more than one shooter arrived with newly reloaded ammo that fit their bolt action nicely, but wouldn't feed in their FAL. :ROFLMAO:

That was probably me, they fit fine in an M1A, figure it had a tighter chamber than a Fal...

So where is everybody staying this year?

I need to make reservations.
I booked at the Quality Inn across the street this time. For me to just sleep, shower, and sh*t, the Dawsonville Inn is just fine and a bit cheaper, but Blondzilla said "no more". Several guys stayed over at the Quality Inn last year and said it was nicer, for whatever that is worth.

Along that note, we met for Friday drinks and dinner at the Chili's which is also closer to the Quality Inn. Ruby Tuesday closed and as far as I know never reopened.

Also, you do know this is last year's thread and the new date is July 31 this year. Bruce had a Run-N-Gun he has been busy with and has not put up a 2021 thread yet that I have seen.
Yes, I know this is last year thread. Ok so moving to the Quality Inn by Chili's. Will see if they have any rooms available.

Bruce, Lowell, Mike, Mike -

This hurts me badly, but I'm 'out'. Jonathan is shipping to Argentina either that weekend (July 31st) or that Monday (August 2nd), and Evelyn is getting married August 7th.

I've been planning on being at this match for quite some time, but I can't undo what's happening around me.

Family>FAL's

I might be able to make it if it's July 31st, I thought it was late August.

You will be missed but your priorities are solid my friend. I was just thinking of Jonathan in the last week or so and wondering if he had new plans yet. Argentina should be interesting and fun.

You will be missed but as other said, family comes first. Tell Jonathan to be safe and keep an eye out for any Argy parts he might be able to pick up and send home to Papa.
