I sent my packet in on Wednesday. I also sent in a different packet for a Rack Grade M1. At $650 it was a no brainer for me.

Most seem to say that to get a 1911 that hasn't been completely overhauled, get a Service Grade. But it is probably a huge crap shoot at this point.
As other posters have said, when your number comes up they will call and offer you a choice based on what’s in the crate the warehouse is pulling from at that time. Might have a choice of all three, might have only one option, it changes every time they open a new crate to pull from.

I got a service grade, it was overhauled and refinished. Mechanical condition is excellent, markings are on the faint side but still legible. If you want original finish, you’re more likely to get it from a Rack or Field grade from what I’ve read on forums. Keep in mind also you may get a pistol with a frame from one mfr and a slide from another. .mil armorers didn’t care about parts correctness. 00D222A0-15EE-45D7-A565-167754BD9FE7.jpeg A9CF3092-9A4C-4688-B43E-C36B193AA359.jpeg

Got a SG in the first batch. Refinished and in great mechanical shape. Would have rather had the older/worn finish but do like having an arsenal rebuilt gun ready to shoot.

I probably should have gotten delivery confirmation, however I also sent a packet for the M1 Garand at the same time.

If I get a notification for the M1, then I'll assume the 1911 packet was also delivered.

I'll post here as soon as I get any info regarding either orders.

My packet was finally delivered today.

Nothing to do now but wait until RGN's are assigned and see if I'm low enough on the list to get sumpin'.

Good luck to everyone in round 3!

Peter-Paul, I hope they hook you up with a nice Garand.

Thank you! I have about 2000 rounds of .30-06 ammo, but no Garand.

I got the ammo many years ago, but never got around to getting the gun due to being overseas.

I hope we all get amazing firearms from this round.

Sent in a packet.
I may have screwed up.
Did not see the two boxes at the top of page A1 for ethnicity.

Red lettering says to fill in all the blanks.
However, cannot submit more than one application if I want to send in a corrected one.

At forums.thecmp.org, the CMP Forums>CMP Sales>CMP 1911, Aint Life Garand started a thread “CMP 1911 order form question” (9-2-2022). cmp1911admin responded: “ ...If you have a question, email cmp1911@the cmp.org and you will get the answer, it may not be the one you want, but it will be correct. ...”.

We have 3 first round Service Grade 1911's in our household. Wife got a RR that is so pristine it looks like it spent its life in a National Guard Armory. The one I received is at the opposite end of the spectrum, the only original part is the RR frame, everything else is replacement parts, it has been overhauled at least three times. I also bought my buddies, he decided he didn't want his after getting it. It is a colt on colt that must have been reparked and immediately put in storage, it's that light grey park. These are all the same grade yet represent the variations of what you might get....original, arsenal fresh or mix master mutt.

The CMP admin posted an announcement today that they are extending the order deadline due to hurricane Ian.

"Due to Hurricane Ian, we have extended the submission deadline for 1911 Order Packets."
http://forums.thecmp.org/showthread.php?t=303118

Several people have reported they've already gotten the with no RGN being assigned, All grades available.

I'm thinking that they didn't get the amount of orders expected.

ETA- Got the RGN email, Number 34908.

Looking at the numbering Schema, it is clear that the first digit applies to the specific 1911 Round. Look at these digits for Round 2:

That means that there can't be more than 9999 pistols to hand out, neither more than 9999 accepted applications.

Pleasantly surprised this is going forward under Duh Hoe Briben Regime... may have to get in on it... a minty WW2 RR, made of "low background" steel, is SOOOooo tempting.

ETA: just saw the PRICES... I smell Hunter Biden's involvement!

I got a field grade in the first round. I originally signed up for a service grade which at that time were all reconditioned pistols that were put in to storage right after being refurbished. I started seeing field grades that people were getting that had rack numbers on the grips and more original looking finishes on them so when I got the call I took my chances with a field instead of the service which I could have gotten.

I received an Ithaca frame and Colt commercial replacement slide. It is a solid shooter, no rattling, not anywhere near being "clapped out", and will shoot a single ragged hole. I eventually found an Ithaca slide so I now have an Ithaca. There are a couple later replacement parts like the safety and slide release that I want to replace with parts that match a bit better finish wise but it shoots so good I hate to mess with it.

I would buy another in a heartbeat if I could, even at the current prices, where else are you going to get a real USGI 1911 for anywhere near this price?

Field grade Ithaca/Colt as received:
